1 Downtown, 12 Ways to Celebrate: Where to Park & How to Get Around

Picking out memorable and unique gifts for friends and family can be quite the undertaking during the holiday season. Before your first purchase, you’ll have to park somewhere!. Luckily for you, there are some convenient and even fun ways of getting around downtown during the holidays. Consider this your transportation cheat-sheet for the holiday season:

Let’s start with some basics: On street parking is $2/hr from 8 AM - 8 PM, for a maximum of two hours. These spots are best for short trips. For stays longer than two hours, off-street parking in lots and garages is a more economical option, plus there are ten times the amount of available spaces.

Parkingslc.com - With over 30,000 spots in and around the downtown core. Use parkingSLC.com to find where to park in garages, lots or on the street before you leave home or from a smartphone. Get the App HERE

The Gateway - Parking at The Gateway is free all day on Sundays and the first hour of parking is free all other days. Learn more HERE.

City Creek Center - The first 2 hours of parking are free at City Creek! Dining at one of their great restaurants? Simply ask for a validation and they’ll throw in another hour. Learn more HERE.

TRAX/UTA Free Fare Zone - Not only will you be contributing to help clean our air, you can ride TRAX all around the Intermountain West. Ride the bus or TRAX downtown in the Free Fare Zone for $free.99! Grab a Farepay card at a local retailer and ride TRAX for 15 cents per trip from December 15 - 31. See the map below or ONLINE

GREENbike - GREENbike is still open! For just $5 you can take unlimited 30 minute rides on a GREENbike for 24 hours. It’s a great way to get around downtown. Better yet, treat yourself for the holidays and get an annual pass for just $75. You'll be have unlimited 1 hour rides for a year and they'll even throw in a $75 Bern helmet for free! Walk - Call us old fashioned but the best way to see downtown SLC is by foot! There are always great sights and perspectives any time of the year, but especially during the holiday season with holiday lights and exhibits practically everywhere you look!

Jingle Bus - Need to get around downtown for shopping and sightseeing this holiday season but don’t want to drive all over the place and look for parking? Uber/Lyft/Cabs - Downtown has a large fleet of cars available to pick you up no matter where you are to bring you to the heart of the city! Just download the apps or pick up your phone and call.
